We have a dream for TISA

This week, the students made comic strips to show what has happened so far in the book that we have been reading as a class, the Tale of Despereaux. So far in the story, the mouse hero has been sentenced to the dungeon for breaking the rules of good mouse behavior by falling in love with a princess. The students illustrated the story very creatively!

In honor of Martin Luther King Day, which was on Monday, we talked in class about what our dream was for TISA, inspired by King's famous I Have a Dream speech. We discussed what we saw as problems here in school, and what we could do to try to change them. The students made posters and put them up in our hallway. I think Martin Luther King would be proud!

In math this week, we learned about how to represent information graphically, using line plots and bar graphs. The students got to go around the room and ask one another what their favorite type of food was, then they inputted the data into a bar graph.

Those students who came skating with us on Wednesday had a great time. We missed our friends who were up on the ski mountain, but everyone's skating is improving week by week. And with better skating skills we are all having more fun.
