Excellent Third Week

Last week, we did a Science project on Precipitation. Look in these photos at how Destiny and Lillyanna used ice cubes and a jar of boiling water to make it rain!





This week, we did a Science project on Heat Energy. Look at this project by Jossen. We can clearly see which jar contains hot water, and which contains cold water because of how fast the molecules are moving. Can you tell which is which?




We finished the book "How to Be Cool in the Third Grade" last week, and the students did a great job at creating posters that show all the cool things about them. Check out these amazing posters by Jossen, Ira, AJ, Lillyanna, Oliver and Destiny. 









 



We had a cool Show & Tell this week by Sierra. She showed us a lizard she caught, and this lizard actually liked having his belly tickled!

The 3rd grade did a marvelous job performing their rendition of The Bird of the Golden Feather. They all learned their lines well, the singing and dancing was incredible, and the costumes were stupendous! TCC and Guadalupe gym field trips and Students of the Month for December and January

Congratulations once again to Caira for winning the Smelly T-Shirt Reading Contest in the Fall. Acknowledgement is also in order for Abby, Willow, and Analyia, who came in close runners up.  Fortunately for everyone, our class is starting up a new Reading Contest for the Spring. The theme is a Reading Marathon. We are now writing our reading logs on "running feet," which we are going to put up around the school and see how far we get! Students will continue to earn stickers, which they can put on their marathon avatars.  Our class went on a fantastic field trip last week to the Talpa Community Center. We got to visit the library, where the students explored new books and read to each other. Thanks to the librarian there, Ms. Lucita, we also got to make tortillas. They came out so tasty, and the students enjoyed eating them for lunch paired with butter, peanut butter, and fresh jam. Final field trips

The Third Grade has been busy learning and going on educational field trips. Here you can see some of the projects and activities that we have been up to.  Here we are at the Talpa Community Center, where Ms. Luzita read us a cool story called The Arrow of the Sun. We then did an art activity based on the story and played in the playground.  We went to the Taos Junction Bridge, where we investigated the types of insects that trout like to eat in their natural habitat.  After visiting the river we went to the New Mexico Wildlife Center in Espanola. We saw owls, hawks, and a bobcat. We had a number of new Students of the Month for April and May. Congratulations to them for all their hard work and the unique gifts they bring to our class!
