Shoebox Dioramas and Rock Characteristics

The TISA 3rd graders have done some quite impressive work recently on their Little House dioramas. Their task was to create a lifelike diorama illustrating a setting from the book that we read in November, Little House in the Big Woods. These students worked very hard to create some rather exceptional dioramas.

The class has also been studying Geology lately. Their job for this assignment was to collect several samples of rocks, and classify them according to their characteristics. As you can see, some of them did a very good job of picking interesting examples of rocks, and using the information that we learned about recently to examine them closely.
