Spring projects and activities for TISA 3rd grade

Our class has been doing lots of cool stuff over the last month. Here are some of the projects, activities, and field trips that our class has enjoyed.

In Science, we studied habitats recently. In addition to talking about how animals adapt to all the various habitats throughout the world, we matched animals to the habitats using these cards.

In Social Studies, we have been deepening our understanding of maps. Using topographical maps of the United States, we were able to find information about the elevation and population of certain state capitals.

For Literacy, we have been improving our typing skills. This year, we all learned how to write in cursive. Now, we are preparing for the 4th grade by making sure we can type without looking at the keyboard. These "keyboard boxes," which the students made with Miss Cassandra, help a lot!

In Math, we recently integrated our lessons on area and perimeter with a cool art project. The students had to measure and cut out rectangles with certain areas in square inches. They then pasted them to construction paper in some very creative arrangements!

For Easter, the class dyed Easter Eggs. They came up with some very colorful designs.

Our US State posters were a huge success. The students did spectacular work researching all about their states and presenting their posters to the class.

Our class went on an incredibly fun and informative field trip at the end of April. We visited the Taos Junction Bridge, where we searched for the types of bugs that our class trout would like to eat. We then went to the New Mexico Wildlife Center, where we saw some amazing birds and other animals.
