Helper projects and more

The How to Be a Helper projects inspired by our reading of Stuart Little were a great success. The students came up with all kinds of generous ways to help people (and animals!). Here are the projects of the students who have presented so far.

Odin pulled in a big haul for his Coat Drive.

Scarlett helped accustom stray cats to being with humans so they could be adopted.

Xanti also helped animals. He organized a blanket drive for the animal shelter.

Skye came up with a great idea of sending her greetings to a child at St. Jude's hospital.

Charley offered her help to the Kindergarteners, helping them learn to read.

Iz helped the community by donating books.

Brittany helped her dad, who works with all kinds of cool stones.

Ella helped out at the Love Apple by prepping tables.

Vivienne planned to help her mom prepare for their family's Thanksgiving celebration.

Theo helped a family friend by chopping and stacking firewood.

On Veterans' Day, the class was very fortunate to receive a visit from three veterans of the United States military. The class learned all about their experiences serving our country.

One of the veterans who came to our classroom was Charley's grandpa. He also came and read the students a story.

Our class practiced for weeks singing the songs for the Lantern Walk. One of the funnest moments in all that time was when the 1st-5th grades all got together to sing to the tune of Ms. Roe's guitar!

The class has also been singing in Spanish class. Thanks to a generous donation of Spanish resources, the students have been listening to and learning fun songs in Spanish. This is from the one called: Chocolate!
