Loads of Cool Projects as We Near the End of January

Image
We've almost reached the end of January, and the class has accomplished a great deal this month. In this post, you will see pictures of the work we have done in art, science, performing arts, STEAM, and some of the plain old fun we have had in the 3rd grade! Our class had a visit by Lee Shawver, who is an expert in spoken and written Chinese. Here we are practicing our Chinese calligraphy in anticipation of the Lunar New Year. In science, we have been studying water and climate. Here we are doing an investigation into how droplets of water form and move on different surfaces. The students wrote fantastic answers to the Focus Question for this investigation too.  Here is an activity we did in cursive writing, geometrical symmetry, and art all rolled into one! (Isn't it great going to an integrated art school!?) Check out our Cursive Monsters: Ms. Anandi has been hard at work getting the students ready for their theatrical performance, which will take place on March 28th (Mark yo...

Field Trip to State Capitol

Image
The TISA 3rd grade had a fantastic time and learned a lot on their recent field trip to Santa Fe. At the State Capitol building, we got to see where legislators make laws, and the governor enacts them. Then, we went to the New Mexico History Museum, where we searched to find artifacts from many time periods.                                             This is why it is called "The Roundhouse." Walking in an orderly line through the building. Looking down on the floor where the Senate meets. Hello from the Second Floor West Wing balcony! One of the amazing works of art at the capitol, a bull's head made of recycled materials. No lunch with the governor on this trip. Maybe next time! Going over the rules of the road before our walk through the Plaza. Happy to be at the New Mexico History Museum. Exploration activity - The Territorial Period The Spanish Period
