DIY projects and field trip to Santa Fe

The TISA 3rd grade submitted their Do It Yourself projects before the Christmas break. Everybody showed an incredible amount of creativity and ingenuity on their projects. They also did gave excellent presentations and explained thoroughly all the steps they went through.

Aria made soap, and she was kind enough to share it with her classmates.

Butter, which we got to sample in school. Yum!

A pillow for our bench. What a thoughtful thing to do for our class!

Mateo made a bow-and-arrow. Definitely a useful thing to have in the Big Woods!

A very imaginative stuffed animal.

Freya made her own version of the "Little House."

Cheese curds. An interesting, and involved culinary process!

Lito made yogurt and was kind enough to bring some for everybody to taste!

Cosmo made his own stuffed animal. He explained to the class every step of the process.

Chive butter. Another delicious project that we got to taste in class.

Analyia made empanadas. A tradition in her family!

Violet made mittens. A good thing to have during these cold winter days!

Bread. Skilled in the art of baking.

Fia and her dad made a bench. Don't worry, her dad wielded the chainsaw!

Archer made tootsie rolls and he brought them in to share. Thank you!

Lilly made ornaments out of dough. Her Christmas tree must have been very decorative!

Christopher made a house for bugs so the little critters could stay warm in winter.

Caira made a broom. Perfect for keeping the house dust-free!

Also in December, our class went on a fun and informative field trip to Santa Fe. We visited the Roundhouse where we learned about the work they do at our State's Capital. We then went to the New Mexico History Museum, where we learned about our State's history as far back at 1,000 years ago and made some cool, historically inspired Christmas ornaments.
