Reading Marathon, Area and Perimeter Practice, Basketball at the Gym

As usual, the 3rd grade has been busy lately doing cool assignments in class and getting out on fun field trips in the community.

Our Reading Marathon is running right along smoothly. The students have completed many "steps" already in the race to read as many books as they can. The judges have at last reached and consensus and determined that the whole-class reward for running our marathon throughout the whole elementary school building will be.... a field trip to Baskin Robbins for ice cream cones!

Please encourage students to continue filling out reading logs. They may write a reading log for any amount of reading they do, even if they don't finish an entire book. Stickers will still be awarded for each reading log turned in, and two stickers for every book completed.

The students have been doing some fantastic work in Math lately. Here we are building on what we have learned about making arrays for multiplication problems in order to figure out the area and perimeter of shapes.

We had an awesome time on our most recent PE field trip to the Guadalupe gym. The students practiced their basketball skills and played a fun game of Simon Says. Our next trip to the gym will be on March 22nd. Please come along with us if you haven't been yet!
