Springtime 3rd Grade Activities

Loads of stuff has been happening in the Third Grade as the end of the year approaches. We have had fun field trips, visits from cool community members, and positively awesome projects lately. And we still have plenty more to come!

Our class went on a fantastic field trip at the beginning of April to the Taos Country Club. We got taught by golf pros about the finer points of putting and driving.

We also found out that one of the best things about golfing on a windy day is having hot cocoa in the club restaurant!

Inspired by our reading of Stuart Little by E.B. White, the class made poster to show what they did for their How to Be a Helper projects. The students came up with generous and caring ways to help their families and their community.

Helping grandma in the garden

Helping dad do home renovation

Helping family collect and cut up fire wood

Helping uncle do house chores

Helping everyone in the family, including pets!

Helping uncle in the garden

Helping a disabled gentleman by offering medical care

Helping cousin by writing letter of encouragement

Helping a family friend make bread

Helping the community cook and clean up

Helping the neighborhood pick up litter

Helping family improve their backyard garden

One student even made a video about her Helper project.

The Easter holiday happened recently. To celebrate, the 3rd grade worked with their Kindergarten buddies to do a Math Easter Egg Hunt in the garden.

Our class had its second of two visits from Mr. Mike to teach us some cool approaches to physics. Here we are learning about pulleys and mechanical advantage.

We also had a visit from Mr. Todd from the Guadalupe Credit Union. He came in to read our class a story about saving and spending money responsibly.

Our class had a visit from Marc Space, who has helped us throughout the year with our Trout in the Classroom project. He shared with us some information about river conservation.

Our Haiku & Watercolor project is now on display in the hallway. Come by and see it next time you are in school. The students wrote some incredibly insightful poetry.
